Surface-contact Wire Rope Production Methods

(1) Fixed die drawing method. That is to force the later deformation, from the round strand wire rope through the fixed mold hole drawing deformation surface contact wire rope. This method can be divided into two methods: rope pulling method, strand pulling method and rope tanning method. The two methods of deformation are simple and easy to manufacture. The deformed strand surface is smooth, and the ellipticity is small; but the required traction The pull of the traction wheel of the ramming machine can achieve drawing deformation. Only the steel wire rope with a diameter of less than 22 mm can be produced. The compression ratio of the strand is less than 7%. The deformation of the wire in each layer of the strand is uneven, and the deformation of the outer wire is maximum. The deformation is minimal, and the friction is great when drawing. When the strands enter the die, they are prone to bulging.

(2) Rotary die drawing method. The draw die that deforms the strand is rotated by means of a motor drive, and the round strand or wire rope enters the rotary draw die hole and can be brought into contact with the strand or wire rope after being drawn and deformed. Compared with the fixed die drawing method, the processed strands have good surface quality and high service life, and the life of the die can be increased by 2 to 9 times and the traction can be reduced by 30%. However, there is still a need for larger traction and surface contact wire ropes can be produced. Or the diameter of the compressible strands is still small.

(3) Roll die drawing method. The tool for deforming the round strands or wire ropes is composed of a pair of perforated two-axis roller molds with 45 angles. The roll mold consists of a pair of rollers with a groove. The first set of roll mold holes is a curved edge square, and the second set of roll mold holes is a round shape. Two sets of rollers are mounted between the press shoe and the traction wheel of the stranding machine. The round strand made from the rigid strand is pulled by the attraction force of the traction wheel from the roller die (passive rotation of the roller die) and becomes surface contact with the strand. Roller die drawing can greatly reduce the friction between the round rope strands and the die wall. It can be drawn with large deformation without lubrication. The strands can be compressed with a diameter of more than 22 mm and can also be made of galvanized steel wire strands. The strands do not lose the galvanized layer, and the roller die is less consumed.

(4) cold rolling method. A pair of horizontal rollers and a pair of vertical rollers are installed behind the pressure line shoe of the stranding machine or the rope machine, which are respectively driven by a DC motor, and the round strands or ropes are rolled by the horizontal roller and the vertical roller so that the steel wire is plastically deformed to form a surface. Contact with strands or ropes. This method is simple and convenient to operate and can produce large-size surface-contact wire ropes. However, due to the synchronism between the traction speed of the rolling mill and the ramming machine or the rope tying machine, it is particularly difficult to adjust the traction speed during starting and braking. In addition, a large investment in cold rolling equipment, rolling deformation is difficult to ensure the accuracy of the diameter and shape of the strands.

(5) Shaped wire tanning method. Shaped steel wire is directly twisted and made into surface contact strands on a stranding machine. For example, six flat or trapezoidal steel wires are used to make surface contact with a round strand by twisting together with a hexagonal steel wire as a strand core. This method requires that the profiled steel wire has a higher accuracy, and a special twisting machine is required for the twisting of the yarn, and the operation is relatively complicated.
